Mt. Olivet has Sunday School classes for all ages. Sunday School meets each week at 9:30 am. Children and youth are divided by age and grade, with creative and engaging lessons each week. Adult classes vary by age and content; all are discussion-oriented. Sunday School is the perfect opportunity to meet and get to know small groups of Mt. Olivet members and visitors.

This page will be updated with information about each of our Sunday School classes soon!

Friends of Fellowship Class

The Friends of Fellowship Class is open to all adults, and we welcome couples and singles. Weekly classes discuss current events and devotional guides, applying to Biblical teachings in learning how to deal with these issues in our everyday lives. As a caring and nurturing group, we tend to have a lot of fun in this class, including occasional social events and active participation in church wide activities. We welcome all to come and join us. We meet each Sunday morning in the church at 9:15 a.m.

New Beginnings Class

New Beginnings is an adult Sunday School Class for all ages. We meet each Sunday Morning from 9:15 - 10 a.m. on the second floor of the Education Building. We are a traditional class and are currently undertaking a study of the complete Bible. To simplify the study, we are using "The Bible for Dummies" as our guide. Our study is in depth but is easy to understand and requires no prior knowledge of the Bible. If you would like to learn more about the most widely read book in the world, come join us!

Bruce Salley Class

The Bruce Salley Class of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church continues to be one of the most active adult classes in our church. Created in the 1960's as "The Young Adult Class," it was renamed in honor of our teacher, Bruce Salley, in 2013. Bruce is a lifelong Bible scholar who injects wisdom and humor into every lesson he teaches!  Our class members head up and serve on practically every board and committee in the church. We teach other adult and children's classes as well as take part in worship services by singing in the choirs and serving as liturgists. We serve Wednesday Night Fellowship Meals and Vacation Bible School meals to our church members. We also work on a regular basis as a group serving our community at the local food pantry, Greater Things Outreach, and by serving night meals to our friends who are homeless at the Davidson Crisis Ministry. Classmates volunteer extra time with The Arcadia Lions Club blood drives, the Pennies from Heaven yearly campaign, and Disaster Relief work in our community and surrounding states. The Bruce Salley Class is a close, compassionate group that starts each Sunday School class session asking for prayer concerns for fellow class members, church members, and community members. We care about and are willing and eager to help others.
